A Closer Look at some Headjoints

On this picture are three headjoints in African Blackwood. The top one has a silver band around the mouth hole which gives an even more solid sound than the standard all-wood headjoint. The next headjoint is in gold plate and has a lip rest, as found on metal flutes, which is carved out of wood. The mouth hole on this head is similar to that on a metal flute, and may suit players coming from the 'classical flute'. The last headjoint is our standard model with the oval mouth hole.
