Some Examples of Headjoints

Well, from the comments made to me by flute players over the decades, this piece seems to be the most important part of the flute, and certainly the mouth-hole is - oval, round, rectangular with round corners, undercut, vertical - you name it and it is available. Some time ago, I stopped making the mouth-hole rectangular and went back to the oval shape after players had shown a preference for the latter. In the meantime I have had a couple to make (for customers in the U.S.) with a mouth-hole usually associated with the metal flute. Players coming from the metal flute sometimes prefer the rectangular mouth-hole.

The picture above shows some of the different headjoints that are on offer - straight with oval mouth-hole; straight with rectangular; lip-rest headjoint; mouth-hole with broad silver band; thinned headjoint; headjoint lined all the way; short tuning slide. There should be something there to suit you but, if there isn't, let me know.
